‘Wallaroo’ Bushcare
Volunteer bushcarers at work
Managing properties for conservation includes removal of weed threats which can overcome and deplete native species. The property ‘Wallaroo’ has a mix of two ecological communities – Cumberland Plain Woodland and River-Flat Eucalypt Forest but because the property was previously used for pastoral interests there is diverse spread of introduced grasses as well as weed herbs and climbers. While government grants enabled primary removal of all weeds there will be a need for follow-up weeding. At the right time, there will also be discreet planting of trees, shrubs and herbs.
Our volunteer efforts at weed control will be essential so we have settled on the second Saturday morning of each month for qualified supervision of those who wish to contribute their energy to this conservation effort.
Come along. meet friends of a similar conservation mind, have fun and contribute to protecting this refuge for fauna and ecological communities. Tools and resources provided.
Wear suitable clothing, hat, enclosed shoes, sun screen and bring water to drink. We hope to provide something of a snack at conclusion of work.
